The ASCA depends almost entirely on donations from individual climbers. If you have ever clipped a replaced bolt with "ASCA" stamped on the hanger (and odds are you have), it was there because of community support. We wholeheartedly invite you to become one of these gracious individuals and help the ASCA maintain our climbing resources.
Dedicated Volunteers
The ASCA is composed of a group of dedicated volunteers who enjoy replacing deteriorating anchors on classic climbing routes. ASCA rebolters have the time, experience and desire to replace even more anchors with the help of your donation!
Where will your money go?
Each tax-deductible donation goes towards buying bolts and installing them in place of aging hardware at climbing areas all over North America. We have an extensive network of crag stewards and encourage experienced equippers to contact us for hardware to use in their replacement efforts.
Replacement in 2022
Since 1998, the ASCA has supplied over 60,000 bolts for replacement work. The ASCA was born in Yosemite and our replacement efforts initially focused on some of the longest classic routes in the western US, but have expanded to many different climbing areas with aging hardware. The next wave of replacement, which is well underway, is to upgrade our earliest “sport” climbing venues with modern bolts and lower-off anchors.
Learn about our lower-off initiative here.
To do this we need YOU to become a member of the ASCA rebolting effort. We could greatly use your donation, even if it’s a small amount, particularly on a recurring basis.
The ASCA is a 501(c)(3) organization and all contributions are tax-deductible.

Who we are
We are a small 501c3 nonprofit, with only two (part-time) paid staff members who also work regularly doing unpaid bolt and anchor replacement work. The majority of our budget goes towards buying top-quality hardware that is installed by skilled volunteers. The mountains and crags are a way of life for us, and we are passionate about stewarding our climbing resources.
